Plans

Long term plans never really work out. I am not talking about the ones which involve creating savings account and saving money for your kid’s education, I am talking about the ones where you plan your life events out.

When I was 13, I was more than 100% sure that I wanted to go the best engineering college in India. I planned the whole thing out when I was 16, and started studying for the entrance exams. I just knew where I wanted to go for college. At the age of 17, my plans changed. One seminar, and I wanted to come to the United States.

When I was 18, I planned on spending all my vacations in India with mommy and daddy. I missed them too much and I just did not go anywhere apart from Delhi. Then my plans changed. Whatever I saved went to studying abroad in Germany. I never even thought of doing something like that before.

When I was 21 I knew I was the luckiest person and would never ever change my circle of friends. I was planning a future with the same people around me, thinking about how graduation and moving away from them would be hard. At 22, all that changed.

And now I do not have a plan. I don’t have an image of what the next year will be. I don’t know what I would want to do a week from now, leave alone a year. Just taking it as it comes :)
